We New Yorkers sometimes missing inspirational events such as the Duro Olowa Salon 94 display at the Bowery New York City Lucky you who subscribe to – an online trend/color and inspiration reporting service. Trend Pulse managed to catch this exhibition before it closed. This eclectic show was curated by Duro Olowu, the Nigerian born, London-based fashion designer known for his eye-popping mix of prints and patterns.

On display were textiles, ceramics, jewellery, fashion and contemporary and vintage pieces by over 50 artists, photographers and crafts-people, with product all loosely based on the theme of “women.”

Highlights were Olowu’s own collection of 25 antique tops made from Nigerian aso-oke textiles mounted against a giant white wall and his own line of gorgeous, embellished, patch-worked and feathered evening capes.
